Radio Frequency Body Contouring FAQs

  • Radio Frequency (RF) Body Contouring is a non-invasive treatment that uses radio frequency energy to target areas of the body to tighten skin, reduce stubborn fat, minimize stretch marks, and smooth cellulite. It helps contour and enhance your natural shape without the need for surgery or downtime.

  • Radio Frequency Body Contouring works by using high-frequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin and underlying tissues. This heat helps break down fat cells, which are naturally processed by your body, and stimulates collagen production to tighten and firm the skin, improving both tone and texture.

  • Yes, Radio Frequency Body Contouring is a safe and effective treatment. The procedure is non-invasive, meaning there are no incisions or needles involved. The RF technology gently heats the skin and underlying tissues without causing any damage, making it safe for all skin types.

  • A typical Radio Frequency Body Contouring treatment can decrease body measurements by 3-6 centimeters (though results may vary from person to person).

  • The typical regimen is 8-12 treatment sessions, spaced 1-4 weeks apart, depending on the body area.

  • No. Diet and exercise are part of a healthy lifestyle and are very important in achieving and maintaining the results you desire. SharpLight’s treatment works hand in hand with your healthy lifestyle.

  • No, there is no downtime after Radio Frequency Body Contouring. The treatment is non-invasive, so you can return to your regular activities immediately after your session. This makes it a convenient option for those with busy schedules.

  • The results of Radio Frequency Body Contouring are long-lasting, especially when combined with a healthy lifestyle. While the treated fat cells are permanently reduced, maintaining your results will depend on your diet, exercise, and overall wellness.

  • During a Radio Frequency Body Contouring session, you may feel a warming sensation on your skin as the RF energy is applied. The treatment is generally comfortable, and most clients compare it to the feeling of a warm massage.

  • You may notice some immediate tightening of the skin after the first session, but the best results develop gradually as new collagen forms over the next few weeks. Fat reduction results may also take several weeks to become visible as the body naturally processes the treated fat cells.

  • Radio Frequency Body Contouring can be used on various areas, including the abdomen, love handles, inner thighs, upper back (bra line), chest, arms, and buttocks. It’s perfect for treating stubborn areas that don’t respond well to diet and exercise alone.

  • Radio Frequency Body Contouring is suitable for individuals who are looking to enhance their natural shape, reduce the appearance of cellulite, tighten loose skin, or target stubborn fat. It works best for those with localized fat deposits and moderate skin laxity. Your Aesthetician will determine if this treatment is right for you during your consultation.

  • Radio Frequency Body Contouring is generally well-tolerated, and side effects are minimal. You may experience some redness, mild swelling, or warmth in the treated area, but these effects typically subside within a few hours. Your Aesthetician will guide you on any aftercare to ensure the best results.

  • YES! We love to see your littles. We just ask that if they are busy bodies, please keep them in their carriers where possible, and they are welcome to cozy up on our couch with their iPads if they are old enough to be trusted alone.

However, for safety reasons, we cannot have children in the room during any of our laser light therapy treatments, (Such as tattoo removal, skin rejuvenation/photofacials, laser hair removal, or fractional resurfacing). • Yes, there are some contraindications to Radio Frequency (RF) body contouring. RF treatments may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions or circumstances. Here are some common contraindications:

    1. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: RF treatments are generally not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding due to a lack of research on safety in these situations.

    2. Metal Implants: Individuals with metal implants (such as pacemakers, internal defibrillators, or metal screws/plates) in the treatment area should avoid RF, as the metal can interfere with the RF energy.

    3. Severe Health Conditions: People with serious medical conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune diseases, epilepsy, or cardiovascular issues should consult a healthcare professional before receiving RF treatments.

    4. Active Skin Infections or Conditions: If there is an active infection, wound, rash, or skin condition (like eczema or dermatitis) in the treatment area, RF is contraindicated.

    5. Cancer History: Individuals who have recently undergone cancer treatments or have active cancer should avoid RF treatments unless approved by their healthcare provider.

    6. Blood Clotting Disorders: RF body contouring may not be suitable for those with bleeding disorders or those taking anticoagulant medications.

    7. Recent Surgery or Fillers: If you have had recent surgery, fillers, or other aesthetic procedures in the treatment area, it's recommended to wait until the area has fully healed.

    8. Open Wounds or Burns: Any open wounds, burns, or unhealed injuries in the treatment area should be fully healed before undergoing RF treatments.

Always inform your Aesthetician of any medical conditions, medications, or recent treatments to ensure that RF body contouring is safe for you. A consultation will help determine if you are a good candidate for the treatment.
