Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs

  • At Nüd Sugaring + Laser Studio, we use SharpLight’s advanced Q-Switch laser technology to effectively break down the pigments in your tattoo. The laser delivers precise pulses of light that shatter the ink particles, which are then naturally processed and eliminated by your body’s lymphatic system over the following weeks. This causes the tattoo to gradually fade, and with the right number of sessions, it can be completely removed.

  • At Nüd Sugaring + Laser Studio, we use the SharpLight S4 laser system for our tattoo removal treatments. This advanced system features Q-Switch technology, which effectively targets and breaks down tattoo pigments, providing safe and efficient results. The S4 allows us to treat a wide range of ink colors and skin types with precision and care.

  • The number of treatments needed to fade or remove your tattoo depends on factors like the size, age, and detail of the tattoo. During your free consultation, our staff will assess your tattoo and ask key questions to estimate how many sessions are likely required. While most tattoos need more than one session for noticeable results, we typically expect no more than 8 sessions to achieve full removal. However, in some cases, additional treatments may be necessary depending on the tattoo's complexity and your individual response to the laser.

  • Laser tattoo removal works with your body’s natural processes to eliminate the tattoo. Each session breaks down the ink particles, but it takes time for your body to dispose of them. Many clients notice some fading after just one treatment, but everyone’s body reacts differently. The full fading process continues over several weeks, and multiple sessions are usually needed for significant results.

  • At Nüd Sugaring + Laser Studio, we use the SharpLight S4 laser, which is effective at treating tattoos of all colors, shapes, and sizes. While some tattoo removal services focus only on black ink, our technology allows us to target a wide range of ink colors. While not every tattoo can be fully removed, all tattoos can be significantly faded, and the SharpLight S4 has a very high rate of achieving near-full and full removal.

  • If you could tolerate the discomfort of getting the tattoo, you can usually handle the removal process as well. However, we understand that pain tolerance varies, so numbing cream is available for purchase ahead of your treatment. We recommend applying it at least one hour before your session for best results. Our staff will provide detailed instructions on how to apply the cream when you purchase it. After each session, it’s not uncommon for the treated area to feel sore or mildly swollen.

  • Once the ink particles have been effectively broken down by the laser and expelled by your body’s lymphatic system, they won’t return. After completing all your treatment sessions and allowing your body to fully eliminate the ink, you can expect any remaining pigment (if there is any) to stay as is or continue to fade further over time with age.

  • As with any medical or cosmetic procedure, laser tattoo removal carries some risk, though it is generally very safe. Possible side effects can include temporary skin color changes, minor pinpoint bleeding, and slight crusting that typically falls off within 10-14 days. You may also experience slight swelling, redness, or "white frosting" immediately after treatment. Hyperpigmentation is another possible, although rare, side effect, but it usually responds well to topical 4% hydroquinone cream within a few days to weeks. We are always happy to answer any questions and can provide detailed paperwork about the procedure and potential side effects upon request.

  • All tattoo removal methods carry a slight risk of scarring, but laser tattoo removal is one of the least likely to cause scarring. Our trained staff takes great care and precision to further reduce this risk. It's also important for clients to avoid picking at the treated area as it heals, as this can increase the chances of scarring. Following our aftercare instructions will help ensure the best possible healing outcome.

However, if your child is old enough to wait unattended in our cozy waiting room, they’re more than welcome to join you for your appointment. For all other treatments that don’t involve laser or light therapy, children are more than welcome to join you in the treatment room. We love to see your littles and are here to support you as best as we can, so you can attend your appointments even when childcare isn’t an option!
