Electrolysis post-

care do’s

Keep it clean & hydrated — Apply a gentle, soothing lotion or balm to calm the skin and keep the area moisturized.

Stay hydrated — Drink plenty of water; well-hydrated skin heals better and supports your electrolysis results.

Use a cool compress if needed — A cold water compress can help reduce any temporary redness or swelling.

Moisturize & exfoliate after healing — Once redness/crusting is gone (usually ~5 days), gently exfoliate the area and keep it well moisturized to prevent ingrown hairs. Skip this if your next treatment is within 7 days.

Protect your skin — Always apply SPF 30+ to treated areas if exposed to the sun.

Follow your electrologist’s advice — Everyone heals a little differently. If we give you special instructions, follow those first.

Electrolysis post-care don’ts

Don’t touch or pick — Avoid scratching, touching, or picking at the treated area, especially if small scabs or pustules appear. These will usually heal on their own.

Don’t wear tight clothing — Skip friction from tight clothes, synthetic fabrics, or anything that rubs against the area.

Don’t use harsh products — Avoid perfumes, alcohol-based products, rich/greasy creams, and deodorant (if treating underarms) for at least 48 hours.

Don’t use soap or makeup — Keep the area free from soap, makeup, and heavy skincare for 24 hours.

Don’t expose to UV or heat — Avoid tanning, direct sun, hot tubs, saunas, and hot baths for at least 48 hours (or longer if redness/crusting persists). Heat and bacteria can slow healing and increase irritation.

Don’t shave right away — Let the skin settle before shaving over treated areas (usually wait 2–3 days), unless instructed otherwise by your electrologist.

Don’t sweat it out — Skip heavy workouts, swimming, or anything that makes you sweat excessively for at least 24 hours, as it can irritate the skin.
